The Whitesbog Historic Farm & Village, located in Browns Mills, NJ, is a small cranberry farming village founded in 1857.
The village is the perfect location for outdoor enthusiasts, foodies, and history lovers alike. It is a hidden gem of history, once the epicenter of cranberry and blueberry cultivation in the U.S. Founded in the late 19th century, the Village is where Elizabeth White and Dr. Frederick Coville pioneered the first cultivated blueberry.
Today, its historic buildings, like the general store and Suningive, Elizabeth’s home, offer a glimpse into the past.
A visit here is like stepping back in time, surrounded by acres of berry fields and cranberry bogs. Some of the old historic homes and businesses have even had some paranormal claims, which isn’t that suprising considering the homes are well preserved.
From my perspective, there’s no doubt that this small historic Village is well loved and taken care of. It’s a great place to come visit – especially if you have an interest in learning a little bit about the infamous the Jersey Devil.
